On the 4th of July, we took advantage of the rights bestowed to us by the USDA National Forest Service and made a mountain bike descent of the tallest mountain in Colorado, Mt. Elbert. It is not commonly known that it is both possible and legal to make this descent, so we did our best to offend as few hikers as possible. For the most part, our expectations for this ride were unnecessarily low and we did our best to enjoy the 3 hour hike to the summit, via the S. Elbert trail. Much to our surprise, the ride was technical, aesthetic, and generally amazing. A few photos from the trip reside below:
